Louis Icart
French (1890 - 1950)

Fetes Galantes - 1929

This is an exceptional illustrated book by Louis Icart. It contains 26 original watercolor drawings done on the pages of the book "Fetes Galantes" by Paul Vertaine. The book itself is part of the collection "Les Manuscrits des Maitres," Paris, Albert Messein Editeur, 1920, one of 950 copies on velin. The book and illustrations bear the dedication by Icart that reads:
A madame Louis Icart, ma femme aimee."

Each drawing interprets a sonnet by Verlaine that is reproduced in the book.
