La Nuit et Le Moment, written by Jean de la Fontaine with illustrations by Louis Icart,
consists of 25 color etchings plus text. The book was published in 1946 with a total edition of 540.
Show below is the special edition of the book, #14, which contains one original watercolor drawing, one copper plate, 25 color etchings with text, one set of the etchings in sepia, and one set of the etchings in b/w. The paper is Japon Imperial.
The book has gold gilding for the flowers and title on the spine, and also the head. This is a fine example of bookbinding.
Note, that none of the etchings are signed. Icart did not, as a rule, sign his bookplate etchings. If these etchings were signed, the signatures would likely be a facsimile. A Certificate of Authenticity is also provided.
