Manuel Robbe, born in Paris in 1872, created over 100 engravings over his career. His best work was done before the 1st World War where he is considered one of the greatest engravers of "La Femme de la Belle Epoque."
He used a combination techniques including engraving and individual coloring of each print. His techniques and a catalogue of his works are documented by Merrill Chase in two soft covered catalogues which are very difficult to obtain because they were published for an exhibition at the Merrill Chase Gallery in Chicago, and not as a catalogue de raisonne.
The Lockport Street Gallery actually carries this engraving in stock available for sale. You are viewing an image of the actual etching. To obtain the price and condition report(s) for the Le Choix de L'Epreuve Click here.
