Hand-Painted Silk Scarves or Wall Art
Loretta Petraitis - St. Petersburg, FL
Silk scarves and wall art are by Loretta Petraitis, who is originally from Lithuania and has lived in the United States
since 1996. Her works on hand painted silk are often based on her
interpretation of a passage of poetry by Robert Burns, James
Weldon Johnson or Emily Dickinson, where she strives to find truth in her subject. She
chooses materials and colors that help express her playfulness and
freedom. She starts with graphic eskiz placed on a small piece of
paper. From this, she transfers her vision to silk where the lines,
colors, and brush strokes blend together with emotion and harmony.
