Salvador Dali Huit Peches Capitaux or Eight Deadly Sins – 1966
Salvador Dali Huit Peches Capitaux or Eight Deadly Sins is a set of 8 etchings done in 1966. The engravings were done by Rigal and the set was published by Jean Schneider of Basel. The total tirage is 170 and consists of 125 of BFK Rives, 35 (XXXV) on japon, and 10 (A-J) on BFK Rives. There were also EAs on both papers.
The set currently for sale is 104/125. It is contained is a portfolio box and each etching is contained in it’s own sleeve with title.
We have also had set is VI/V on japon. It is contained is a portfolio box and each etching is contained in it’s own sleeve with title. The suite fits into the portfolio box. This is interesting in that the catalogues indicate that sets I – V originally contained two extra suites. If this is the case, the extra suites would have been contained in separate boxes. The set I am selling stands alone as the suite.
Also notice how the images look much better than shown in Field’s catalogue.
Available for sale are:
1) The complete portfolio of 8 drypoint etchings. This is a very fine example of this rare suite. Available
