Salvador Dali Four Dreams of Paradis – 1973

The Dali Four Dreams of Paradise suite consists of 4 lithographs. The sheets have full margins.  The are loose as issued. They have an image size of 17 5/16 x 14 in. and a sheet size of 28 5/16 x 21 1/4 in. This is one of 1000 copies on Arches published as a portfolio. There were a total of 1075 with 75 on japon. The suite was published in 1973. Each of the lithographs is signed and numbered #232/1000 on Arches with full margins published by Zeit Magazin/Observer Grapholith. This set is sold only as the complete portfolio.

Dalí was known for his role in Surrealism. He was also a seminal example of celebrity showmanship. Subsequently the cult of personality is a phenomenon that dominates popular culture today. Dali was always a colorful and flamboyant presence. This is reflected by his signature cape, wide-eyed expression and trademark upturned waxed mustache. Dalí was a master of self-promotion and spectacle.

Note, that Michler and Lopsinger show images for the Dali Four Dreams of Paradise in their catalogue and recognize it as an authentic set by Dali. However, Field in his book shows images of the set on pg. 221 and states that there is no proof that the original is a work of Dali. This means that in Europe the set is considered an authentic work by Dali, and that in the US there is question as to the authenticity. Available!!!
